From the Desk of the COO
By Eric Lansbery, Chief Operating Officer, Seiso | May, 22 2025
It seems every time I turn around, I notice another IT and security team that is often stretched thin—juggling infrastructure, cybersecurity threats, and managing compliance requirements all at once. These responsibilities demand constant vigilance, deep expertise, and fast execution. But when a handful of people are expected to do the work of many, the result isn’t just burnout—it’s risk.
As I reflect on May’s Mental Health Awareness Month, I’m reminded that unrelenting pressure and “too much grit” can have real cognitive consequences. As recent research highlights, persistence without relief isn’t a strength—it’s a liability, both for individuals and for the organizations that rely on them to continuously protect digital assets and manage security programs at the same time.
The truth is that resilience shouldn’t mean doing everything alone. For small teams, having the right kind of support can ease the pressure and create room to breathe. Whether it’s offloading time-consuming and complex security tasks, gaining clarity of ongoing compliance demands, or simply having a trusted resource to turn to with a fresh set of eyes, shared responsibility makes the work more manageable—and more sustainable.
As we acknowledge the mental and emotional toll of constant overextension, it’s clear that supporting the well-being of IT and security professionals isn’t just good for individuals—it’s essential for the health and resilience of the entire organization. Protecting your systems should never come at the cost of your people’s health and wellness.
Let’s Build Your Resilience—Together.
